Metalworking workshop: learn the techniques of a craftsman

Come and discover all the secrets of blacksmiths and welders by taking part in an artisan workshop dedicated to metalworking!

How do you work with metal?

Welding

Welding is a permanent joining process. It involves welding metals together to form a fusible alloy. For hot-iron welding, we use a soldering iron and a soldering station. For flame welding, we use a welding torch, a gas welding unit or an oxygen-acetylene flashlight. It is also possible to weld with an electric arc.

Blacksmithing

Blacksmithing is an age-old craft! During this metal workshop, we'll use a hot or cold metal bar. A striking device will enable us to give it the desired shape and create a highly resistant piece. The object will be shaped on an anvil, using a hammer or tin.

Setting

This is a mechanical operation during which one or two parts are deformed by compression, without crushing the material. This compression is performed using a crimping machine. The individual parts are then joined together. This process is very common in the automotive, food, plumbing, electronics, watchmaking and jewelry industries.

What objects can I create in a metal workshop?

During a metal workshop, you'll have the opportunity to create both practical and decorative objects:

  • Cutlery is the art of making a knife by hand, from the blade to the handle. You can create Japanese knives (kiridashi, santoku), folding knives, fixed knives or multi-function knives.
  • Some professionals also offer to make bottle openers.
  • Last but not least, metalwork will enable you to design furniture (table, chair, stool...) and shelving for your house or apartment.

Our professionals will help you every step of the way.
