Fixed-knife workshop in Civens (42)

Activity description :

Come and make your own medium-sized fixed knife during a day in which you'll become a real blacksmith! You'll work with Ludovic to create your knife from A to Z.

Workshop schedule (9h) :

• Briefing over coffee and definition of your project.
• Blade forging: explanation of the different types of steel, the "working" temperature and the steps involved in transforming the material.
• Heat treatments: quenching and tempering. Blade hardness and resilience.
• Backstand grinding: which type of grinding for which use.
• Lunch break.
• Finishing the blade.
• Choice of wood: routing, shaping and finishing.
• Handle assembly by gluing and/or riveting.
• Sharpening of your future companion.
• Leave the workshop with your own fixed knife.
