Activity description :

Come and discover the final resting place of the kings and queens of France. Built on the tomb of Saint Denis, a missionary bishop who died around 250 AD, the Royal Abbey of Saint-Denis was the burial place of 43 kings, 32 queens and 10 servants of the monarchy from the death of King Dagobert in 639 until the 19th century. In 1966, the monument was elevated to cathedral status.

  • Open all year round
  • April to September : 10am-6.15pm Monday to Saturday and 12pm-6.15pm Sunday
  • October to March: 10am-5.15pm Monday to Saturday and 12pm-5.15pm Sunday
  • Closed during religious services and on January 1, May 1 and December 25.
  • Please note that the royal necropolis is part of a church used for religious purposes, and is therefore subject to regular exceptional closures.
