Activity description :
Come and discover the mangroves of the Bay of Génipa in Martinique and enjoy a guided tour that's as instructive as it is fun!
Course of the activity :
Duration: 2h30 - 12 people maximum
- The tour begins in the village of Les Trois Îlets, where you'll board Le Mantou, a small shuttle with a dozen seats.
- On the way to the mangrove swamp, you'll pass the three islets that gave the commune of Trois Îlets its name: Ilet Charles, Ilet Thebloux and Ilet Sixtain, named after the last owners of the islets.
- Once you've reached the shores of the commune of Ducos, you'll head deep into the heart of the mangrove swamps via the Canal Cocotte or the Canal de Rivière Salée.
- As you travel along the canal at reduced speed, your guide will be sure to teach you to distinguish between the different mangroves (red, black, white and grey), their characteristics, their peculiarities and their sometimes spectacular modes of reproduction.
- To round off this half-day trip on a high note, your guide will take you to Petit Ilet (or Ilet Robinson) for a well-deserved refreshment. Local fruit juice, homemade plater or even a "special" punch, to suit everyone's taste!
A magical moment for all, young and old alike, as you travel back in time and discover the richness of part of Martinique's ecosystem through comments that are as passionate as they are well-documented.
