Coastal license course in St-Hilaire-de-Riez (85)

Christophe and his team invite you to Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez to take your boating license! If you've always dreamed of sailing, don't wait any longer!

To sail at sea, you need to hold a "coastal" license, which authorizes you to drive boats and scooters (VNM) equipped with an engine of more than 4.5 Kw, and allows you to sail up to 6 miles from a shelter (harbor or anchorage where the crew is safe).

How does it work?

You'll have two training courses, each followed by a test.

• The first is practical training , which consists of 2 hours of individual maneuvers at the helm to learn the correct gestures and practices for navigation at sea. This is followed by 1.5 hours of practical training in radio communications and onboard safety. You will be accompanied by an experienced, state-certified trainer throughout the session, who will let you take possession of the boat.
• Theoretical training then lasts 7 hours on site from 9am to 6pm, with a 2-hour lunch break from 12pm to 2pm. You'll be given an explanation of the maritime code: learning to read a maritime chart, calculating variation, interpreting a marine weather chart, the symbols used, identifying the different lighthouses... And the rules of the helm, buoyage, lights, sound signals, regulations... Your exam will be a 30-question MCQ.

You will be accompanied throughout by a professional trainer who will explain the theory and practice of navigation at sea, so that you can earn your boating license!
