Whisky tasting: discover the secrets of this noble spirit

Funbooker invites you to spend an unforgettable moment with your loved ones! Book a whisky tasting workshop and discover the secrets of the distilleries!

Course of a whisky tasting workshop

1️⃣ Whisky making

During the workshop, you'll learn more about how whisky, made from barley, yeast and water, is produced. After malting (extraction of the starch from the barley) comes the brewing stage: the malt is ground to obtain flour - called grist - which is mixed with hot water.

2️⃣ Fermentation

The wort is then fermented by boiling it with yeast. During distillation, the resulting mixture is brought to the boil in a still, and the alcohol vapors are cooled to become liquid. The final stages are barrelling, ageing in the cellars and bottling.

3️⃣ History of whisky

Your host will take this opportunity to tell you about the history of this beverage and the major whisky-producing countries such as Scotland, Ireland, the United States, Canada and Japan.

4️⃣ Tasting

He'll also teach you how to properly taste whisky: you'll first observe its color, then try to recognize its aromas (cereal, woody, spicy, fruity, floral, dried fruit, vinous or pastry) by smelling and tasting it.

5️⃣ Whisky analysis

Finally, you'll analyze the whisky's aromatic persistence: after all, whisky stays on the palate for a few seconds, but sometimes for hours! This is an opportunity to familiarize yourself with whisky jargon and express your feelings. The professional will help you use the right vocabulary!

Some tasting workshops allow whisky lovers to match their favorite beverage with delicious dishes (ham, oysters, duck confit, cheese...).
