Come and discover the world of Belgian bookbinding during a one-day workshop with Isabelle, an experienced craftswoman in Aubagne.

Belgian binding, also known as "Criss Cross", is the joining of the two cover flaps and the spine by means of a criss-cross seam, allowing the book to open completely flat and be easily refilled!

Workshop schedule (7h):

The workshop breaks down as follows: 3h class in the morning and 3h in the afternoon, with a 1h lunch break.

• Introduction to the basics of Belgian bookbinding and presentation of materials.
• Coverselection and preparation of pages and threads.
• Sewing of cover and pages using Belgian binding techniques with Isabelle's guidance.
• Finishing the binding to reinforce its solidity.
