2-day introduction to pottery in Saint-Denis (93)

Activity description :

Introduce yourself to or perfect your throwing skills during this 2-day course with Henri, lasting 9 hours each, which will be adapted to your level of pottery practice and learning skills.

It's a fun, soothing activity that you're going to love, and one that you'll enjoy doing in small groups of no more than 2.

Course (2 days) :

• Henri will introduce you to his background, his workshop, the specifics of working with clay and the various techniques available.
• He'll work with you to establish the day's schedule, based on your expectations and the various stages involved in creating a touring piece, and its production constraints.
• Day 1 (9h): discovery of the different stages of throwing: kneading, centering, drilling, opening, lifting the clay, smoothing... which will enable you to make a few pieces (bowls, cups, small vases, small jugs, bowls....).
• Day 2 (9 a.m.): you will fine-tune the pieces you made the day before: turning, adding accessories, handles, material decorations and coloring certain pieces with engobes from the workshop.
• Your production of 5 to 8 pieces will only be bisque fired (first firing) by Henri. At the end of the session, you can opt for enameling (second firing) for a small additional fee per piece.
• You can then collect your creations later, glazed or unglazed, within a minimum period of one month, depending on the firing batches scheduled for the workshop and the period of your participation.

You'll have learned the basic gestures essential to throwing, and will be comfortable enough to pursue the activity in a workshop!
